Identification of jets which originate from a b quark is important for most of the Atlas experiment physics program i.e. for precise measurement of the top quark sector and searches for physics beyond the Standard Model.

We studied the performance in terms of tagging efficiencies and light quark rejection of the existing b tagging algorithms in ATLAS, using Monte Carlo simulated events. We investigated the b tagging performance for different jet reconstruction algorithms varying the parameters to reconstruct the jets for the same data samples. We performed dedicated calibration of the heavy flavour tagging procedure for tt events with at least one W decaying into leptons and using the kT jet algorithm.
