Search for SUSY trilepton events with ATLAS at the Focus Point — •Cédric Serfon — Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München
The Focus Point, which is one of the points from the mSUGRA parameter space not excluded by the WMAP experiment, is characterised by heavy scalar particles (>2 TeV) and rather heavy gluinos (∼ 850 GeV). The production cross-section of such heavy particles will be low at the LHC. Consequently, at this point, the dominant production is direct production of gauginos (charginos/neutralinos).
This study will present the search for direct gaugino production at the Focus Point via a trilepton signature in the ATLAS detector. Cuts have been optimised to reject the backgrounds, in particular tt events which are the main background. A full simulation of the detector, including a trigger simulation, has been used. The influence of pile-up on the signal selection has been studied.
