Searches for Supersymmetry with Tau Final States in ATLAS — •Johannes Asal and Xavier Portell — Universität Freiburg, Germany
The finding of supersymmetric processes at the LHC is generally associated to the possibility of finding an excess in the multijets plus missing transverse energy channel, most probably involving a certain number of isolated leptons. In a considerable big part of the supersymmetry parameter space, the presence of tau particles in the decay chain of gluinos and squarks is significantly enhanced. Therefore, tau signatures become particularly interesting not only for their discovery potential but also for giving complementary information to characterise the nature of the new physics. However, tau signatures are more challenging than other leptonic signatures and the identification and discrimination of hadronic tau decays against jets from QCD production is crucial. In this talk, we are going to present how ATLAS is getting prepared for a possible discovery in the tau inclusive channel with a special attention to the different tau tagging and reconstruction algorithm performances.
