Search for Second Generation Leptoquarks in pp Collisions at the Tevatron — •Philippe Calfayan and Thomas Nunnemann — Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich

As predicted by numerous extensions of the Standard Model, leptoquarks are hypothetical bosons allowing lepton-quark transitions. At the Tevatron, leptoquarks are predominantly produced in pairs via the strong coupling. Each leptoquark can decay to either one charged lepton and one quark (with branching fraction β), or one neutrino and one quark.

We report on the search for the pair production of second generation scalar leptoquarks (LQ) in pp collisions at √s=1.96  TeV, using an integrated luminosity of 1 fb−1 collected at the Tevatron collider by the DØ experiment. Topologies arising from LQLQ→µ qν q and LQLQ→µ qµ q are investigated. Cross section limits as function of the LQ mass are derived and interpreted as lower limits on the LQ mass as function of β.
