DePFET Macropixel detectors for the MIXS planetary XRF spectrometer on BepiColombo — •Thomas Lauf — Max-Planck-Institut für extraterrestrische Physik — MPI Halbleiterlabor, München, Deutschland
In 2013 the satellite probe BepiColombo is sent on its ESA cornerstone mission to Mercury, the least explored planet in the solar system. One of its tasks will be the investigation of the planet’s surface compounds. This is done by MIXS, the Mercury Imaging X-Ray Spectrometer, which uses planetary XRF with a new type of semiconductor X-ray detector: the DePFET-Macropixel which is developed at the MPI Halbleiterlabor. In this talk the MIXS detector and the requirements the mission poses onto it are presented.
