Unique VHE Gamma-Ray/X-ray Flares of PKS2155-304 in 2006 — •Rolf Buehler for the H.E.S.S. collaboration — Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik, Saupfercheckweg 1, 69117 Heidelberg

The high-frequency-peaked BL Lac PKS 2155-304 is one of the brightest and best studied VHE gamma ray sources in the southern hemisphere. Since 2002 H.E.S.S. has monitored this source. In 2006 it was in an unusually high state. On the nights of the 28th and 30th of July 2006, two major outburst occurred, with peak fluxes ~80 times the usual values and well-resolved structures with time scales down to ~200s. On the night of 30th July, six hours of simultaneous, continuous X-ray coverage with CHANDRA were obtained. Here we report on the VHE/X-ray observations of these two nights.
