Astroparticle physics with the KASCADE-Grande experiment — •vitor de souza for the KASCADE-Grande collaboration — Institut für Experimentelle Kernphysics, Universität Karlsruhe
The KASCADE-Grande experiment, located at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, is a multi-component detector optimized for measuring cosmic ray air showers with energies between 5 × 1016 and 1018 eV. Its experimental power relies on the use of several techniques to measure in an independent way the electromagnetic and muonic components of the shower with good accuracy. This capacity allows a direct comparison of the data to hadronic interaction models which leads to improvements of the particle physics descriptions as well as the reconstruction of the cosmic ray energy spectrum and composition which helps in the understanding of the astrophysics involved in the cosmic ray production. In this talk, the present status of the experiment and an update of the data analysis technique will be shown. The latest results concerning energy spectrum, primary composition and anisotropies of cosmic rays will also be discussed.
