Assembly and production of the wire electrode for the KATRIN-ExperimentSebastian Benning, Volker Hannen, •Björn Hillen, Hans-Werner Ortjohann, Matthias Prall, Christian Weinheimer, and Michael Zacher — Institut für Kernphysik, Universität Münster

The KArlsuhe TRItium Neutrinomass-Experiment allows the determination of the electron antineutrino with a sensitivity of 0,2 eV (95% C.L.). This parameter is important for cosmology and particle phyics and can be determined in a model-independent way from a measurement of the endpoint region of the Tritium beta-spectrum. The central part of the experiment, a 23 m long spectrometer with a diameter of 10 m, is based on the principle of a MAC-E-filter. On the inner surface of the spectrometer vessel a double layer wire electrode will be installed, which on one hand reduces the background generated by the cosmic radiation and radioactive isotops in the vessel material and one the other hand adjusts the electric field. The wire electrode has a modular design. Overall 248 modules are produced with high precision in Münster under cleanroom conditions. The talk gives an overview of the functionality and the production of the wire electrode modules and an outline of the actual production status. This project is supported by BMBF under contract number 05A08PM1.
