Octa(perfluoropropyl) octafluoro phthalocyanine complexes (F64Pc), new molecules with high electron affinity and small intermolecular coupling energies, were investigated. Studies of charge transfer across the interface under varied controlled potential in the electrolyte (cyclic voltammetry) were used to determine the molecular energy levels of the molecules. Optical spectroscopy was used to analyze details of the charged molecular state. Furthermore, optical absorbance measurements at thin films revealed a small extent of intermolecular electronic coupling. The use as n-conducting air stable semiconductors and electrochromic switches will be discussed.
