We report on first spectrally and spatially high resolved measurements of a recently suggested flexible electrostatic confinement for excitons in a single quantum well [1], which is created by a fine tip electrode due to the quantum-con*ned Stark effect. For this strongly correlated system we present finite-temperature quantum Monte-Carlo results and discuss the specific trap parameters at which prominent many-particle effects, including the Wigner crystal phase of spatially indirect excitons, are expected to be accessable [2].
