It is well known that hybrid systems composed of polymers such as poly(3-hexylthiophene) and semiconductor nanoparticles like CdSe are perspective materials for solar cell applications. Light conversion efficiencies of up to ~3 percent were reported for these systems, but low charge carrier mobility is one of the limiting processes in these structures. Therefore, research on correlations between the charge carrier mobility and the morphology of the organic-inorganic blends is one of the most important tasks which have to be addressed in order to improve the light conversion efficiency. In the present work, composites of poly(3-hexylthiophene) and CdSe nanoparticles with systematically varied parameters such as concentrations, particle size and shape were prepared. Systematic reserach with atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and absorption spectroscopy was made to study the structural properties of the systems. The charge carrier mobility was measured by MOSFET methods. Relationships between the charge carrier mobility and the morphology of the blends were analyzed.
