Specific heat of a Cu3 spin tube — •Juergen Schnack1 and Roman Schnalle2 — 1Universität Bielefeld, Fakultät für Physik, Postfach 100131, D-33501 Bielefeld — 2Universität Osnabrück, Fachbereich Physik, D-49069 Osnabrück
[(CuCl2tachH)3Cl]Cl2 is a frustrated three-leg spin tube of antiferromagnetically coupled Cu spins with s=1/2 [1,2]. The T=0 phase diagram (gaps, plateaus) was discussed in e.g. [3,4]. Here we report on the specific heat of the spin tube which was determined experimentally. For low temperatures the specific heat is linear in temperature – reminiscent of a one-dimensional gapless spin chain – followed by a pronounced peak at higher temperatures. This behavior is discussed theoretically.
