We propose a novel technique for the characterization of the TNSA field using angularly resolved measurement of self generated THz radiation. Here we present the preliminary results of an experiment performed at the JETI laser facility at IOQ. We have detected radiation up to 3 THz at intensities ~ 10^19 W/cm^2 from 5 micron thick Titanium targets. The data are compatible with our model which attributes the emission of THz radiation to the accelerating electron-ion sheath at the back of the target, acting like an oscillating dipole. A comparison between the experimental data and results of two dimensional particle in cell simulation will be presented.
