Tokamaks are often considered to be two-dimensional and consequently, their equilibrium is treated by solving the Grad-Shafranov equation. In real devices, the toroidal field ripple, error fields due to coil misalignments and deliberate application of resonant magnetic perturbations lead to a three-dimensional structure. To study the effect of the deviations from axisymmetry on the equilibrium the application of complex numerical tools like the HINT2 code[1], which allows for magnetic islands in the equilibrium solution, is necessary. In this study calculations of the three dimensional equilibrium are presented which take account for the toroidal field ripple as well as resonant and nonresonant magnetic perturbations. Examples will be shown and discussed for the tokamaks TEXTOR with dynamic ergodic divertor and for JET with error field correction coils. [1] Y. Suzuki et al., Nucl. Fusion 46, L19-L24 (2006)
