Effective quantum potentials for strongly correlated plasmas — •Torben Ott1, Alexei Filinov1, James W. Dufty2, and Michael Bonitz11CAU zu Kiel, ITAP, Leibnizstraße 15, D-24098 Kiel — 2Physics Department, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL

The idea of a semi-classical treatment of quantum effects via an effective pair potential Ueff goes back to Kelbg [1] and was further developed by many authors, e.g. [2].

In [2] it was shown that the potential Ueff can be successfully used in semi-classical MD simulations. Here we present two applications of this idea: 1) a realization of an external potential and 2) an effective potential for quantum particles in a Coulomb crystal.
