Adaptive estimation of qudits and entanglement — •Christof Happ and Matthias Freyberger — Institut für Quantenphysik, Universität Ulm, D-89069, Germany
We discuss adaptive methods for estimating an unknown pure d-level-state (qudit), of which only a limited amount of copies is available. Using information from previous measurements, the adpation steps construct measurement bases for further measurements, which improve the estimation quality more than further measurements in fixed or random directions. We present Monte-Carlo simulation results for complete reconstruction of the state (for various d) and for the entanglement (measured by concurrence) of two qubits (d=4).
