Structure formation with renormalisation-group techniques — •Klaus Klingmüller, Martin Beneke, and Johannes Braun — Institut für Theoretische Physik E, RWTH Aachen, 52056 Aachen
We review a new method to study non-linear effects in the formation of large scale structure, which has been presented by Matarrese and Pietroni [1]. In this approach, generating functionals for the correlation functions in Fourier space are constructed and their dependence on a cut-off applied to the initial power spectrum is studied. The resulting differential equations resemble renormalisation-group equations from quantum field theory and statistical physics and can be integrated to obtain the power spectrum at redshifts and length scales inaccessible to perturbation theory. We discuss the approximations used in [1] and possible future applications such as the computation of the bispectrum.
