Proton Structure - the impact of HERA — •Robin Devenish — University of Oxford, Physics Department, Keble Road, Oxford OX1 3RH, UK --- Träger des Max-Born-Preises
After a short historical introduction, the talk will focus on the achievements of the HERA electron-proton collider and the two general purpose detectors H1 and ZEUS. The precision measurements at HERA have made significant contributions to a deeper understanding of quantum chromodynamics. In addition, the data have provided information on proton structure that is an essential input to the experimental program about to start at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
