Charm production with D+/− mesons in deep inelastic scattering at HERA — •Mykhailo Lisovyi — DESY, Hamburg, Germany
The charm quark in deep inelastic scattering (DIS) is mainly produced via boson-gluon fusion. Therefore the charm cross section is directly sensitive to the gluon density function. A charm quark can be identified by the presence of a charmed hadron in the final state. So a study of D+/− meson production in DIS on the HERAII data sample gives an opportunity to measure the charm contribution to the structure function F2cc with high precision. The advantages of the ZEUS Micro Vertex Detector are used to get a clean sample of D mesons.
