Study of single-top quark production in the t-channel at ATLAS — •Gia Khoriauli and Markus Cristinziani — Physikalisches Institut Der Universität Bonn, Germany
Within the first few years of data taking it is expected that LHC experiments will be able to observe the electro-weak single-top quark production. It proceeds through three different channels, the t-, s- and Wt-channel. The t-channel has the highest production cross section, 246 pb (at NLO), at the LHC. We present a study of the t-channel process at ATLAS. The study is centered at an optimization of cut-based and multivariate analyses in order to improve the significance for an early t-channel discovery and obtain a higher precision in its cross section measurement. The study is based on ATLAS Monte-Carlo simulation.
