Signals for Large Extra Dimensions in the Drell-Yan channel in the CMS detector — •Metin Ata, Thomas Hebbeker, Arnd Meyer, and Markus Merschmeyer — III.Physikalisches Institut A, RWTH Aachen University
As soon as particle physics encounters a new energy area with the start of the Large Hadron Collider, the focus will be on beyond the Standard Model (SM) searches. One possible extension of the SM is the idea of Large Extra Dimensions as for example in the model by Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos, and Dvali, which explains the weakness of gravity compared to the other known forces. In this talk we focus on the contribution of virtual Graviton exchange to the Drell-Yan process. Using Monte Carlo simulations of the CMS detector, methods to measure deviations from the SM expectation in the dimuon channel are studied, and the expected sensitivity with the first collider data is presented.
