Jet Performance of Local Hadron Calibration in the ATLAS experiment at LHC — •Paola Giovannini — Max-Planck-Institut für Physik München

Local Hadron Calibration (LC) is a modular approach for hadronic calibration of the ATLAS calorimeters at the LHC. LC is based on the idea of reconstructing the calorimeter signal in terms of topological clusters, that are fully calibrated before running the jet making algorithm. Cluster energy calibration consists of corrections for non-compensation effects, noise suppression algorithm deficits and dead material losses. These corrections are performed using three different sets of energy weights. LC weights for clusters have been calculated on single pion simulations and have been validated on beam test data. In this work, the performance of the LC scheme is tested for the first time in the context of jet reconstruction. In order to be able to validate LC at the jet level, dedicated algorithms had to be developed, to separate non-compensation, noise and dead material effects in the jet environment. These algorithms are studied with matched truth particle jets as reference.
