Implementation of a DIRAC Computing Element — •Florian Feldhaus — TU Dortmund

The Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) currently consists of more than 140 computing centres in 33 countries.

The LHCb Grid system DIRAC (Distributed Infrastructure with Remote Agent Control) allows to integrate disparate compute resources such as individual PCs, batch systems and Grids. In order for LHCb to utilize all available resources a lightweight DIRAC Computing Element (CE) is being developed. The DIRAC CE will provide a secure means to submit jobs to all supported compute resources and aims to be at least as secure as the current Grid CE implementations. The DIRAC CE implementation could be used with a virtualization layer in order to simplify the deployment for LHCb. This presentation will describe the current status of the DIRAC CE and future directions of this research.
