Data acquisition for CASTOR calorimeter of the CMS detector — Ulf Behrens, Kerstin Borras, Alan Campbell, Peter Göttlicher, Hannes Jung, Igor Katkov, Albert Knutsson, and •Ekaterina Kuznetsova — Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Notkestraße 85, 22607 Hamburg
The CASTOR calorimeter is a forward quartz-tungsten sampling calorimeter of the CMS detector. The CASTOR read-out is realized by means of photomultiplier tubes followed by front-end electronics and digital front-end drivers.
The software support and control of the calorimeter read-out components is a part of the global data acquisition (DAQ) of the CMS detector and is based on a CMS-developed platform for distributed DAQ systems (XDAQ).
The layout of the CASTOR data acquisition is described along with basic principles of the CMS DAQ implementation. The integration status is presented.
