Time cluster search for neutrino flares with IceCube 22-strings — •Jose Luis Bazo Alba — DESY, Platanenallee 6, D-15738 Zeuthen

A time-dependent search for flares of high energy neutrinos using a time clustering algorithm is presented. IceCube data from its 22-strings configuration (2007/08) is analyzed. This method provides an unbiased search for significant neutrino flares over short time-scales that are not fixed a-priori. A performance study that optimizes the discovery potential is carried out. Different event selections (i. e. cut strengths) and time-scales of source activity are studied. Special care is taken to properly describe the background rate over short time scales, including uptime and azimuth corrections based on detector characteristics. Results from a pre-defined list of sources directions are reported.
