Multipole analysis of the neutrino skymap from AMANDA-II — •Anne Schukraft, Jan-Patrick Hülß, and Christopher Wiebusch — RWTH Aachen
In this analysis we investigate the arrival directions of registered neutrino events in AMANDA-II. This is achieved by expanding the skymap by means of spherical harmonics. The data sample is dominated by atmospheric neutrinos which produce a typical spectrum of multipole coefficients. Additional signals from e.g. extraterrestrial sources would modify this spectrum in a characteristic way. In the analysis we verify the agreement of the experimental data with the atmospheric expectation and test various models of astrophysical neutrino signals and the effect of neutrino oscillations. The analysis method is explained and results from the neutrino event distribution from seven years of AMANDA-II measurements are shown.
