One-nucleon knockout reactions with 57Ni — •Alina Movsesyan — GSI, Planckstrasse 1, 64291 Darmstadt, Germany
One-nucleon knockout reactions in inverse kinematics have been developed as a standard tool to investigate the shell structure of short-lived nuclei. Typically, a light target like Be or C is used, and only the heavy projectile-like fragment is detected. In this presentation, we discuss a new, more exclusive experimental approach using proton-induced knockout reactions performed at the LAND-R3B facility at GSI. The scattered target proton and the knocked-out nucleon, as well as the heavy residue are detected. Results for the one-proton and one-neutron knockout reactions on the radioactive isotope 57Ni will be discussed. Angular correlations of the scattered nucleons are observed in the (p,2p) and (p,pn) reactions. The corresponding momentum distributions of the fragments 56Co and 56Ni are reconstructed and corresponding cross sections are analyzed. The experimental setup is also capable to distinguish different reaction channels by observing the gamma decay of excited fragments. The results are compared to knockout reactions with a Be target and to theoretical estimates.
