Performance studies of various types of MCP-PMTs — •Fred Uhlig, Wolfgang Eyrich, Albert Lehmann, and Alexander Britting — Physikalisches Institut, Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg
At the PANDA experiment of the HESR/FAIR complex at the GSI in Darmstadt it is planned to use a DIRC (Detection of Internal Reflected Cherenkov radiation) for particle identification. The readout will be done with ultrafast photosensors, where multi-anode micro-channel-plate photomultipliers (MCP-PMTs) are promising candidates to meet the requirements of the DIRC.
In this poster the properties of various types of MCP-PMTs will be compared. Their gains and time resolutions were investigated. Furthermore the dark count rates and photon rate stability were measured. Surface scans were performed to obtain information about the uniformity of the response and about the crosstalk between the individual anode pixels.
