Neutron Activations at the Neutron facility of TU-Dresden — •Alexander Domula1, Daniel Gehre1,2, Axel Klix3, and Kai Zuber1 — 1TU Dresden, Institut für Kern- und Teilchenphysik, 01069 Dresden — 2FZD, Institut für Strahlenphysik, 01314 Dresden — 3KIT, Institut für Neutronenphysik und Reaktortechnik, 76344 Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen
The Technical University of Dresden (TUD) operates at the Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (FZD) a 14 MeV Neutron Generator (NG) with fast, mono energetic neutrons from the T(d,α)n reaction and 2,5 MeV neutrons from the D(d,x)n reaction.
Since its commissioning in 2004 the NG is involved in the validation of European Activation File and mockup experiments for validation of neutron transport data in collaborations with FZK/KIT, PTB, ENEA, JAEA, Osaka University and University Vienna.
Cross section measurements have been limited to long living isotopes. An automated sample changer is currently set up in order to extend the capabilities to radioisotopes with half-lives in the range from seconds to a few minutes.
The general layout of the neutron facility is described. First example activations for GERDA and SNO+ have been made an will be presented here.
