Gaseous tracking detectors play a key role in existing and planned hadron and particle physics experiments. A versatile setup of such detectors is used for optimizing the performance of existing trackers (ANKE@COSY, WASA@COSY) and for developing new concepts (PANDA@FAIR). The setup consists of an array of PANDA-type straw chambers and a hybrid detector with a drift gap followed by a GEM amplification stage and a stack of planar drift chambers. Additional scintillators give time reference signals. Data are read out with 160 and 250 MHz flash ADCs and with F1-TDCs. The setup will be described and results will be presented with emphasis on energy loss and cluster formation along particle tracks. Data analysis in terms of particle identification based on dE/dx will be discussed.
