Experimental tests of QCD — •Monica Turcato — Institut für Experimentalphysik, Universität Hamburg, Luruper Chaussee 149, 22761 Hamburg
The experimental tests of QCD are becoming more and more stringent due to the improved precision of the results from the HERA and Tevatron experiments. In particular, the HERA experiments H1 and ZEUS are providing results on neutral and charged current interactions and on jet cross sections based on the full collected statistics; the Tevatron experiments CDF and D0 can measure inclusive-, multi- and associate-jet production at larger scales than HERA. The HERA and Tevatron data together provide an insight on the structure of the proton, being one of the main input for the determination of the proton parton distribution functions, and on the perturbative structure of multi-parton processes; they are therefore important for the understanding of proton-proton interactions at the LHC. Moreover, they allow a precise determination of the strong coupling constant, αs, and a test of its running behaviour.
