Reactor-neutrino experiments aim at the determination of the last unknown neutrino mixing angle θ13. In the first phase of these experiments an accurate knowledge of the neutrino spectrum emitted by the reactor core is crucial. In addition this is an important input for non-proliferation purposes in respect of a feasibility study commissioned by the IAEA.

An experiment was set up to measure the beta spectrum of the fission products of U238 - the only isotope in the reactor fuel, of which the spectrum is experimentally undetermined up to now. The detection technique is based on a coincidence between a plastic scintillator and a gamma suppressing multi wire camber. The beta spectrum obtained is then converted into the corresponding antineutrino spectrum.

The results of a second beam time at the neutron source FRM II in Garching will be presented.

This work has been supported by funds of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG (Transregio 27: Neutrinos and Beyond), the Excellence Cluster (Origin und Structure of the Universe) and the Maier-Leibnitz-Laboratorium (Garching).
