D^± meson production in Deep Inelastic Scattering at HERA with the ZEUS detector. — •Mykhailo Lisovyi — DESY, Hamburg (Germany)

The dominant contribution to the charm production in deep inelastic scattering(DIS) is the so-called boson-gluon fusion process. Therefore the charm cross section is directly sensitive to the gluon density in the proton. A charm quark was identified by reconstruction of D^± meson decay in the Kππ decay mode. The lifetime tagging technique was used to increase the purity of the data sample. Charm inclusive and differential cross sections were measured and compared to previous results. The charm contribution to the structure function F₂ was extracted.
