Beauty production in DIS using semileptonic electron decays at HERA — •ramoona shehzadi — Physikalisches Institut, University of Bonn

Heavy flavour production in ep collisions using semileptonic decays into electrons and muons is a central topic of research at HERA. A likelihood method using semileptonic electron decays for beauty production in photoproduction was used by the ZEUS collaboration for the HERA I data and is now being extended to the HERA II data. A similar kind of approach has been adopted to analyse DIS events. The increased statistics and possibility of using the lifetime information, due to the presence of the Micro-Vertex Detector (MVD) in the HERA II data, improves the precision of the measurement. This talk will focus on the ongoing DIS analysis. Results based on the HERA II data set for DIS selection, identification of semileptonic electron candidates and extraction of signal will be presented.
