High pT top reconstruction in tt events with the ATLAS detector — •Peter Kövesárki, Ian C. Brock, Adriana Nuncio-Quiroz, and Detlef Bartsch — Universiät Bonn, Bonn, Deutschland
The kinematics of partons in high energy collisions are commonly reconstructed using various jet algorithms. However, at the collision energies reachable at the Large Hadron Collider, the probability of jet merging for the boosted hadronically decaying massive objects is significant. The reconstruction of the kinematic properties of the boosted top quarks is possible using jets with wide cone sizes, but separating these events from those containing only vector bosons and additional jets from QCD interaction needs a deeper understanding of the structure of wide jets. In this study we consider variables that can be used and consider possible systematical effects. The validation of the high pT top quark selection process using data will also be discussed.
