Understanding of diboson background for top physics — Markus Cristinziani, Gia Khoriauli, Marc Lehmacher, Agnieszka Leyko, Gizo Nanava, Tatevik Poghosyan, Nina Scislak, Duc Bao Ta, and •Nikolai Vlasov — Physikalisches Institut, Universität Bonn
The diboson states WW, WZ and ZZ plus jets represent an important background to channels such as dileptonic tt, H → WW, etc. Currently there is no method known how to isolate the diboson background events in a clean way to extrapolate from a pure background region to the signal region. Until a feasible method is developed to extract this background from data, we rely heavily on the good understanding of this background using Monte-Carlo simulation. In this analysis the diboson production has been simulated for √s = 14 TeV with the HERWIG, MC@NLO and Alpgen Monte-Carlo generators. The results of the three different diboson generators are compared with each other and with MC@NLO tt events.
