Towards an improved understanding of QCD using MC generators — •Albert Knutsson — DESY, Notkerstrasse 85, 22603 Hamburg

The Monte Carlo group of the Analysis Center at DESY aims for an improved understanding of the standard model, and especially QCD in LHC events. My talk summarises research made by experimentalists and theorists in the MC group of the Analysis Center. In particular the determination of parton density functions for MC generators and tuning of the parameters in unintegrated PDFs will be in focus. Also, recent work on the CASCADE MC generator, studies of saturated PDFs and theoretical development of parton showers will be covered. A brief summary of some generators for LHC used within the MC group will be made.
