First results from CMS Fast Beam Condition Monitor BCM1F — Elena Castro1, Wolfgang Lange1, Wolfgang Lohmann1, and •Roberval Walsh2 — 1DESY, Zeuthen, Germany — 2DESY, Hamburg, Germany
In CMS a series of beam condition monitors were installed and are in operation for measuring radiation doses and preventing possible damages to the detector in case of beam losses. The Fast Beam Condition Monitor, BCM1F, consists of two modules, with 4 sCVD diamond sensors each, located 1.8 m away from the IP, on both sides of the IP, and was designed to give a fast response measuring beam-halo and collision products bunch-by-bunch. Early in November 2009 the LHC restarted running with beams and BCM1F recorded data from beam halo and collisions. In this talk we will present a brief introduction to the BCM1F system and the first results on the halo measurements using data from 2009.
