Resolution of beam size readout systems at PITZ — •Mohammad Rahmatullah Tanha — Platanenallee 6 15738 Zeuthen - Berlin
Photo Injector Test facility at DESY, Zeuthen site, PITZ is one of the research groups of the DESY branch at Zeuthen. The major goal of this facility is to develop and optimize photo electron sources suitable to produce high quality beams as demanded for FLASH and the European XFEL. The group investigates the characteristic and size of the emitted electron beam in deep details. This requires studies on the transverse phase-space distribution of the electron beam. Main sources of information on the phase-space distribution are the measured transverse distributions. These distributions are obtained by screens and optical readout, consisting of lenses and CCD cameras, as well as wire scanners, each of them contributes to the uncertainty of the measurement. This work describes studies on the uncertainties emerging at the stage of the beam size measurement, photon yield from different screens and screen saturation limits for various beam momenta, bunch charge and spot size and resolution of different lenses.
