Kinetic Monte-Carlo simulations of cluster growth and diffusion of metal atoms in Polymers — •Lasse Rosenthal, Alexej Filinov, and Michael Bonitz — Institut für Theoretische Physik und Astrophysik, Leibnitzstraße 15, 24098 Kiel
Metallized polymers offer a broad range of applications in many fields of technology[1]. Therefore a detailed understanding of the metallization and the underlying processes has to be available.
We present a kinetic Monte-Carlo approach to a simple model of the diffusion of metal clusters on a polymer substrate[2]. The time development of the diffusion process and the dependence of characteristic parameters like the distribution of the cluster size and penetration profiles on the surface diffusivity and the deposition rate of the metal atoms are presented and discussed.
