In this work, we study the spectral properties of two identical circular microdisks which are coupled through evanescent field. The system is experimentally realized with semiconductor quantum dots, and the spectrum and qualtiy factors of this system are traced, continuously varying the refractive index of one of the microcavities by heating. In this process, the spectrum shows clear level repulsion whenever the resonances are induced in both of the cavities. However, the quality factors are behaving in different ways depending on the symmetry. We analyze this observation theoretically and numerically and find a good agreement with the experimental data. Also, a simple theoretical model to grasp the physical essence of this system is presented.
