Due to a small amount of experimental data concerning the hfs (hyperfine structure) of chromium atom available in the literature, our research group undertook a systematic study on this element. Our investigations were performed on an atomic beam apparatus by the LIF method (laser induced fluorescence) and ABMR-LIRF method (atomic beam magnetic resonance, detected by laser induced resonance fluorescence). For the electron levels belonging to the multiplet 3d54s a 5P it was possible to obtain the values of the hfs intervals with the accuracy of about 1 kHz. This allowed us to determine precisely the values of the hfs constants A and B, representing magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole interactions. Additionally, for the presented levels the estimation of the value of the hfs constant C (magnetic octupole interaction) was made.
