For application in polymer bulk heterojunction solar cells, the blend of the polythiophene P3HT and the PC70BM fullerene electron acceptor material is a promising model system, as C70-derivatives are used in the most efficient organic solar cells.
Using high-frequency electron spin resonance (ESR), we were able to separate the signals of the positive polaron from the negative anion localized on the C70-cage, and the involved g-tensor components could be obtained. The focus of this work is the analysis of the main parameters of light induced ESR spectra obtained at different microwave frequencies, namely 9, 36, and 130 GHz.
