For sensing application it is desirable to have GaN nanorods with InGaN quantum wells which are standing upright in a well defined pattern. Our approach starts with ordered GaN pyramids on which in a first step ZnO nanopillars were grown. This structure was overgrown with GaN, and subsequently with a radial GaN/InGaN multi quantum well structure.
We report about the structural and optical properties of this nanostructured material which we investigated by spatially resolved cathodoluminescence, photoluminescence, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction.
