Organic transition metal complexes could be potentially useful for the development of new materials in the field of molecular magnetism. In this work we report on the investigation of a tetranuclear [Ni4 (HL)3]2+ compound which was characterised by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. A comparison with similar nickel complexes will be discussed. During the X-ray spectroscopic investigation some radiation induced damage was observed and studied in more detail. It turned out that the main damage was a decomposition of the ClO4− anions.
