Fluorescence-excitation and emission spectra from the same individual light harvesting 2 complexes from Rps. acidophila strain 10050 measured at low temperature will be presented. The combination of both spectroscopic techniques
provides information about the absorbing and emitting electronic states within the same LH2 complex.
To our surprise we find different types of emission spectra (with/without zero-phonon line) which do not correlate with different types of fluorescence-excitation spectra. The shape of the emission spectra, however, shows a clear correlation with the spectral position.
