We present the worlds first direct measurement of the electron angular distribution of H2+ in strong laser fields. Using circular polarized laserpulses of I=6· 1014 W/cm2 and τ = 40 fs we observed an unexpected distribution which exhibits neither a sharp absolute value of radial momentum nor a 90∘ orientation with respect to the internuclear axis. It emerges that the angular distribution rotates with increasing internuclear separation and shows at least two significant peaks at higher radial momenta.
