We present two-photon photoemission measurements with the angle-resolved time-of-flight spectrometer THEMIS. The spectrometer allows us to measure the kinetic energy and wave vector parallel to the surface of the photo emitted electrons. Due to the maximum angle acceptance of +/- 15° and the usable energy range of up to more than 20 % of the passenergy, it is possible to measure a remarkable part of the band structure concurrently.
We present measurements of the image-potential states (IPS) on Cu(111) and Cu(1 1 11), a vicinal surface with (001)-terraces. For both measurements we calculated the effective mass and the binding energy of the electrons. The dispersion relations correspond to other measurements (M. Roth). Furthermore we measured the Umklapp band and the lifetime differences of the IPS depending on the parallel momentum of the photo emitted electrons of Cu(1 1 11).
