We present an all solid-state laser source emitting 660 mW of narrowband 671 nm light frequency-locked to the Lithium D-line transitions.
The design is based on a diode-pumped solid state Nd:YVO4 ring laser, operating on the 4F3/2→ 4I13/2 transition near 1342 nm. The infrared light is subsequently frequency doubled in an enhancement cavity using periodically poled Potassium Titanyl Phosphate (ppKTP). Optical-to-optical efficiencies of up to 80% are obtained, resulting in a diffraction-limited beam.
We demonstrate the suitability of this stable, robust, spectrally narrow and frequency-stabilized light source for laser cooling of Lithium atoms.
