Spherical wavelets as a tool to find point-like sources and directional structures in cosmic ray sky maps. — •Marcelo Zimbres Silva — Gaußstr. 20 42097 Wuppertal

Data analysis commonly concerns data distributed on the real line or images on the plane. But experiments also acquire data in all directions and data is defined on the sphere. This is notably the case of observations of the cosmic microwave background and of cosmic rays by the Pierre Auger observatory. These datasets represent a new challenge in data handling, since the techniques used in image analysis have to be extended to the sphere. In this talk we will show how wavelets defined on the sphere can be used to analyse Pierre Auger data. More specifically we introduce a family of wavelets that possesses directional properties, a feature that makes them very useful in our search for multiplets, the clustering of events in filamentary shape and ordered in energy by the action of cosmic magnetic fields, as well as point-like sources in Pierre Auger sky. We begin with a short introduction to the subject and advance to simple analysis on simulations.
